Incorrect username or password when logging in. HELP!
Hi,

Yesterday, I bought the Steam Deck, and when I tried to log in, it said the password was incorrect. I tried several times, and in the end, I changed the password from my PC. However, it still says the password is incorrect. I also tried downloading the app on my mobile, and the same thing happens there. I know I’m entering the correct username and password because I can log in perfectly fine on my PC, but if I try through the browser, I get the same error.

I don’t know why this is happening, and I’m not sure what else to try. I have no issues with the Steam app on my PC, but on the Steam Deck, mobile, or browser, it won't let me log in, saying the username or password is incorrect.

When you log on your steam-pc, are you manually typing in the login & password?

Just the password, the login is already written. Why?

You could for example on your PC have configured a UK-English keyboard layout whereas you have a physical US-English layout keyboard attached and might be e.g. inputting the character " while you think you are inputting @ -- or any variant of such.

N/A if your password doesn't contain any characters that are on different keys between your physical and configured keyboard layout and/or of course when no such configuration difference exists in the first place.

I had special characters before, but I changed my password, and now it doesn't have any. When I try to log in to the Steam Deck, I can see the password, and it's written correctly.

OK. Dunno then.

I’ve already solved it! By chance, I found out that I had another account created ages ago, and it was linked to the same email as the one I always use. I suppose this was causing some sort of conflict when trying to log in. I just had to log into the old account (I guessed the password by sheer luck) and change the email linked to it.

Thank you very much for everything!
