How do I fix the Steam CSS chunk glitch?
For some reason my steam's shop (or related page) just started glitching and it mostly only displays texts on the screen along with the special offer page saying things like this

"Something went wrong while displaying this content. Refresh
Error Reference: Store_9109516_c9e9d9cda2f006be
Loading CSS chunk 7436 failed.
(error: https://store.akamai.steamstatic.com/public/css/applications/store/7436.css?contenthash=36f12bdcd4a8ae076443)"

I have like no idea what happened but using a VPN prevents it from appearing and I can use steam normally if I do
Pretty much a computer and other similar topic starter so I have no idea what caused this to happen and I've tried most of the things listed on internet like clearing steam cache or resetting internet related settings etc

Facing the same issue, although on the mobile app if I used mobile data, it would load perfectly fine. It also loads fine with the VPN.

Hi, I fixed it months ago, so basically there are two possible results but they are both for PC and normally the phone side of it would load fine without the issues overall.
Result 1: Your host file is missing for the internet and you'll need to either do it yourself or have an app for you to do it
Result 2: You have the wrong time set on your computer(not sure if it affects phone) and you'll have to set it to the correct time

I think it's just my WiFi, I have tried everything but it won't work. Although it seemed to improve for a little while. It broke again soon after. Considering a friend with the same WiFi provider has the same issue or maybe because of the war here things are gonna get blocked or Smth. Thanks! (Btw how did you exactly fix it for your steam?)

It was my wifi too but I think it really depends on where you live, if you try on like a similar device like another computer and it has the same issue maybe it might be that steam is blocked in your country but I believe that if it is something wifi related then it must've been something related to the files related to the internet
(Like for example if you ever had to use VPN to access other things outside of steam and that lead to the files changed)

It's Def just the WiFi, I don't really use a VPN on my PC and on my phone I rarely use it to contact my older relatives on Facebook. Maybe it isn't a nation wide ban and that only my WiFi provider blocked it. I give up hope for now lmao. I will just wait it out. Can't play games on steam because they can't access the steam cloud. Just have to wait 6 months to get another WiFi...

Possibly your DNS might be wonky

I would try changing it to OpenDNS 208.67.222.222 or Cloudflare 1.1.1.1

Nah for me it's just my country blocking everything (Can't fix that lol). It's fixed for her.

Sorry to resurrect a post that's basically dead but I had the same problem today and honestly the theories about the country or the provider blocking it sounded like a bit of a stretch for my situation.

I have to specify the details of my situation though:
1) I live in the EU
2) I don't use VPNs
3) It happened only in the browser not in the Steam Windows app
4) The error was:
Error Reference: Store_9603912_dfd4bb425455a054
Loading CSS chunk 7436 failed.
(error: https://store.steampowered.com/login/css/applications/store/7436.css?contenthash=950d1a8e1e8cb524ff25)
Which is not quite the same as yours

So I did the sensible thing and opened Steam Support (from the Steam Windows app which didn't have the problem); I couldn't find the issue by just browsing because it's somehow hidden who-knows-where but I found it by simply using the search bar, and here it is, the solution to my specific situation: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/1F7B-387B-A923-DE2E
Some extensions interfere with the login, and I quickly verified that by trying to access it in a private browser window. I tried disabling them one by one and found that the extension responsible is MetaMask, a crypto wallet. I also had Binance's BNB Chain Wallet extension but it didn't interfere like the other one.

This may not work for you but I just wanted you to know that I did solve it reliably. Whether it will be permanent I still don't know, but every time I disable the extension Steam works and every time I enable the extension Steam stops working.

This thread was quite old before the recent posts, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
