how to fix FPS drops

I have a big problem with FPS drops in games. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? The important news is that the drops only happen in games I installed via Steam.

Well, this is a pretty vague question that you seem to think has a universal answer.

For one you didn't bother to tell us anything about your system or the games you're playing. So if what you wanted is random guesses, your post is perfect.

So for my first random unreasonable guesses. Build a new PC. And don't play Bethesda games.

If they're only happening in Steam games, you could try disabling the Steam overlay during gameplay. Go to the Steam menu, click Settings, then In-Game, and uncheck the option labeled "Enable Steam overlay".
