Steam points

How do I get Steam points apart from buying games and other things?
Tried posting some stuff but it never seems to gain any traction, i.e. in terms of Community Awards.

A good and useful guide is probably a good choice for getting awards. The trick is finding something people will find helpful that someone else hasn't already done.

You have to buy stuff or have your user generated content be awarded by someone.

Steam Points are just so you can buy cosmetics and customize your profile. I know, it's pretty tame. It really isn't worth doing

And don't expect too much from awards -- those points aren't generated out of thin air, someone else has bought them. So, they run out of it just like you do.
