How to appeal a permanent ban?
Hello,

I want to appeal an unjust permanent ban made by the moderation team from the Overwatch community forum on steam.

short version of the story: I'm not gonna claim to be completely innocent, I was "trolling around" making jokes about the vast amounts of Overwatch "adult material". There are multiple reviews on steam about this game doing the exact same thing.
Some examples:
- https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198365943303/recommended/2357570/

But it's true that what I posted is not 100% in the guidelines (aka off-topic posting / trolling).
However, instead of a temporary ban, I received an instant permanent ban for "posting pornographic material", which is NOT true. I never posted this, nor any links towards this.

However, when I try to appeal, I get a message from steam support that I need to contact Blizzard Entertainment for this.
However, see: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/340638
It's clearly stated on their website that they are unable to help with bans on steam (which makes sense?) and that I do need to contact steam support for this.
But since steam support refuses to help me, does this mean I'm "screwed" ?
Are there any of you who have experience with this?

Thanks in advance.

reply to your ban message, that is how you appeal it. appealing a ban does not mean it is going to be lifted.

I know I'm not entitled to the ban lifted (even though I don't not break the rules to the extent of receiving an instant permanent ban).
But I don't get any response Wolf Knight, that's what I mean. I get no answer. I've had a similar case a good 10 years back when making an "angry review" about Counter-Strike: Source.
I then made an appeal later with a genuine apology to Steam support and the ban was lifted (and I never made that mistake again).
And on top of that, that ban was even justified. The permanent ban I received on the Overwatch community forum is not justified.

Personally, I feel that steam support has dropped in quality the past 10 years.

Forums of third-party games, unless entrusted by the developer/publisher are to be managed by the developer/publisher with Steam having no say in it.

If you don't get a reply, then the appeal is either denied or being processed. You don't get to escalate the issue to Valve because it's not Valve's jurisdiction.

Thanks Iceira, I hope someone does learn from what was posted here. Gave you a warm blanket for your post too!
I suppose this is pretty much the end of it. It's basically 2 multi-billion dollar companies being multi-billion dollar companies.

You deserved the forum ban

i went to look at your post history

https://steamcommunity.com/id/DjTrolly/posthistory/?p=2

and notices that you got ''hypo sensitivity'' and prone to getting irritated easily

you also got anger issues too

you are prone in hitting out others as well

-------------

You can mute people in multiplayer online games

p.s just because of a single person, you go boycott the game and everyone

No you can't : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agyz5mEHA_8
And this is completely off-topic btw.
3 people with private profiles so far taking the side of Valve, yes very organic reponses.

One more thing about this: if you think that I deserved it, can you post proof that I posted Pornographic content in the Overwatch community forums? Since you claim that I deserved it, you must have proof right?

there are 3 options for steam account profile

1) totally public to everyone

2) only public to people in friend list

3) totally private

i pick 2nd option.

And since you not in my friend list, you see my profile as ''private''

---------------

And your reply to me shows you are discriminating those who put profile ''private''

That's not proof of me getting a justified ban. And neither proof that your post is on-topic.

This post of yours is concrete evidence

Since you admitted it yourself

And you are trying to appeal the forum ban

Ah, and it's also not proof that you can mute map pings in MW3, despite you claiming that you can.
Can you point out in my original post, where exactly I admit to posting Pornographic content? You keep claiming all these things, but so far you haven't backed any of this up.

it is proof that YOU are the issue and that your ban may most likely be deserved. we can only see what is public, we cannot see any deleted posts you may have nor what bans/warnings your account may have.

people are free to review anyone else's post history, and from that they can draw their own conclusions. if you have to attack others for having a private profile, that simply shows the issue is you.

all accounts start with a PRIVATE profile by default. it is up to the account owner to decide what they want to make visible to others, and who can see it. many dont care about the profile at all, so they dont waste time on it. or did you not notice the lack of an avatar on some of the profile?

what an account posts is what matters, not the profile.
Mithrandir 15 JUN 2024 a las 5:47 a. m.
wait, are you the same person with 2 private profiles?
Mithrandir 15 JUN 2024 a las 5:54 a. m.
roflmao, now I also have a stalker on the steam forums (creepy!).
maybe I should just make a new steam account and be done with it.
