Games slowing internet speed

Whenever I launch a steam game, it slows my internet speed for everything outside of the game to a crawl. ~400Mbps down to ~20Mbps. I cannot find a setting within steam that would cause this. I have tried both WiFi and wired Ethernet. I have tried running the game through a VPN and internet browser outside the tunnel to no avail. I've updated drivers and re-installed Steam.
At this point, I'm out of ideas.
Has anyone come across this or have any idea?

Are you alone on own local network, other unit as consol and ip radio whill take bandwide, we can only ask here only yuopu know if you actual is alone on own router.

So technicaly you are wrong with games slowing internet speed and im sure you know it will take what bandwide it has to do to get to a online game server, but you did not point out its a online game either ( and we have seen other steam user complain over own ISP throttle Internet speed then they cant keep up. ) so many issue with this.


I could say many ppl have other app running like spotyfy and other apps that use internet while they are doing other things again its seen as user own issue.

And agaon why no games do not make slow internet speed. ( you need a fiber down at a ISP in same time most will never notice this with all them backup lines they have today ) require planned work or ISP emergency fiber repair ASAP, and yes that can happend, and still dont mean you will know it happend, that reuire again you have own ISP sms service ir ISP even offer such service. ( and again NO games do not do THIS other things cause this to happend. )

You can ask that game devs if they have problem at own game server, we can all forget that last game server issue at that location. what if game devs has a issue, ( this is know as other end ) not a steam issue then its not a valve game

do check own pc for lan card drivers ( many forget this today sense most never geta issue until things do not work as it should.

same goes with cable and firmware at own router, we dont seem them check this and that anymore.
