"Vote for my logo" scam
My friend sent me a message like that:

"Heya bro. Got a minute?". I replied that yeah, I do. "She" asked me if I can vote for her logo. I thought that it was actually her (yep I'm stupid) and I wanted to help her. Well, this scammer did get on my account. And my other friend also thought that it was me and that scammer hacked her account as well.

I've never done something that stupid, not sure why I actually thought it was her.

The hacker only sent the same messages to almost every online player, removed a few people from my friends list and blocked like half of them.

I have changed many details of my account. Checked if everything's okay with Avast and it didn't found anything wrong. I didn't have any problems with logging in (but of course I deleted all devices when my friend texted me that she didn't send me those messages).

It seems like everything is... alright? The scammer didn't create a new API key, no new password, didn't change the email, didn't change the steam guard code, didn't post anything, didn't steal anything.

Steam doesn't let me send any friend requests nor text people I don't have on my friends list (even tho I used to). I've already contacted Steam Support, because I want my friends back lol. I'm waiting for their response.

So, should I be worried? I don't want this dude to gain access to any other thing. How can I make sure that nothing else was hacked?

Thanks.

Follow steps 1-6 to secure your account:

1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.
3. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
4. Change passwords from a trusted/clean device.
5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
6. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

Scan with anti-malware software not with Avast.

Just to be sure, change your email password from different PC.

It's a variation on the "vote for my team" scam.

There is even an official support page about this scam:

Okay, I think everything is okay. The Malware Software didn't notice anything suspicious and I followed every step :warsawhelmet::steamthumbsup:
mój brat miał to samo minute temu, tyle że siedział obok mnie i formatował dysk, nie wiesz czy zrobili ci coś jeszcze???

Tell your brother to follow all the steps in the 1st reply above.

Nic więcej nie zrobili, ja osobiście dysku nie formatowałam i wszystko jest w porządku. Jeśli to ci sami, to raczej nie ma się czego obawiać
How you would fail for that xDDD Like it's known scam for over 5-6 years

When I made this post I was kinda new to Steam :v I only created the account years ago, but didn't use it
: Just because you don't use an account for a long time doesn't mean an obvious scam can't be recognized as such. I also don't participate in giveaways or phone surveys. Yet I can still recognize them when I encounter them for the first time in real life. So, that's not an excuse.
Well giveaways and phone surveys are more than obvious, I just thought that it was my friend who needed my help. Later 2 of my other friends texted me the same way, so they fell for it too :P
Wow, so the scammer made it seem legitimate??? There is no strategy to combat this!

Clever girl.

We even texted for a few minutes, so I didn't think that it might be not her. I got it, I was scammed and I won't fall for it again, jeez
