Missing SSD after updating games.

So, my Windows just suddenly stops detecting the SSD I have some games installed on AFTER I update one of them, it's the third time this happens and it usually DOESN'T do this. Is my SSD dying or is it something else?

Yes it look like that, but you should also check Brand harddisk support webpage, problem is SSD Firmware require disk is empty, also why ppl dont update them.

Do check cable is still attached, if you have moved pc or other time you have open the pc and maybe touch the cable by mistake.

if system drop the chain so system cant use it ( dissapear from system then you already expect the worse )

BIOS update to chipset driver / disk controller driver , you name it.. gl with recheck all.

Is it an external or internal SSD? What is the brand/model of the SSD?

Given the information provided the answer is a definite maybe. SSDs like any hardware can fail. And sometimes people have bad luck and hardware fails earlier than one expects. It's not impossible, but you'll have to do some research and troubleshooting to arrive at a definitive answer.

- Do a restart press start menu > power > restart.

- If windows see drive, but not letting you access, open CMD as Admin > type in

chkdsk /f /       <--- add letter drive at the end

Let say my problem drive is E so should look like chkdsk /f /e that it.

- Open CMD as Admin > type in without qoutes "sfc /scannow" this will check if any error, and correct them. After this just click start menu > power button > click RESTART.

- Shut down laptop, now power it back on go into your laptop BIOS, and if you see your SSD listed in BIOS that a good sign, if no then means either SSD faulty, or loose if cable, or not push in all the way for sata ssd.

the thing is that before updating if I go into Disk Management it shows up fine and it even says "Healthy" it's after I try to update a game that it completely disappears from File Explorer and Disk Mgmt.

It's an internal SSD Kingston model SUV400S37240G, I can't remember if I bought this one a few years ago when I upgraded my PC or if it was the one I bought off a friend almost 6 years ago (Both of my SSD's are Kingston but one is a SA400 series.

I noticed that when it happened earlier, I restarted but it just gave me a black screen and to check the boot order so I went into the BIOS and it wasn't there. It only comes back up AFTER I shut down my computer and turn it back on only for the process to repeat itself again and again lol.

Desktop, my other 2 drives (1 HDD and another SSD) both work fine, it seems to be just this particular SSD, thought the same that maybe the cable is loose but idk, I think if that were the case it wouldn't detect it from the beginning, not after trying to update a game.
