Big Picture mode on a PC will not connect to the internet
As the title says, I have a working wifi connection, BUT Big Picture does not detect it, use it, or oet me select a wifi network in the network options screen. And no, I am not running in offline mode.

It could be signal strength. Connect a REAL ethernet cable to confirm that BPM doesn't recognize your connection. Also that would be far more stable for gaming. Wifi is fine for reading forums, but serious gaming demands the wire.

No need, works fine when not in big picture mode, the problem is withinbig picture mode

Ignore it. Steam, Big Picture or not, doesn't control your WLAN connection. Control it from within your OS and do not use Steam as your WLAN manager.

Right. Hard to ignore when the games servers won't connect unless launched outside of Big Picture Mode.

Again, anyone encountered a fix for this?

Do we get it as it work in large mode but NOT Big picture, then ask steam support they might want to investigate why., have you test this on cable. then latency might be part of the issue.

steam is not going to fix your wifi issue , wifi is a local transfer to own router. that then use cable/fiber into steam.

No idea if you've tried this or if it will help, but it's often worth a shot when you're desperate: You can try resetting Steam to its default state (this won't delete games or game saves or anything) by opening Windows terminal and pasting this:

start steam://flushconfig

Best of luck getting this sorted.

If it works on Starbuck's WiFi then clearly its a problem with your wifi router at home.

Weirdly I have the same issue. Steam works just fine in desktop mode and is online and I can play online too but when in big picture mode it reflects that I'm offline! Interestingly if I launch a game, I can still play online lol. What gives?

I have the same problem. In fact WIFI is connected and Steam is online. However, in Big Picture Mode, it says no internet. Don't know why.

Is there a solution please?

I'm also having this issue on my Rog Ally X. Always says offline while in big picture mode.

If you install a VPN and have it active that somehow reroutes the network controller Steam is using making it appear online in Big Picture. That worked for me so I hope it helps others too :)
I have the same problem. It worked just fine last time tho.. now when I'm in big picture mode it shows that I'm offline but I'm online while in windowed 'normal' mode. I'm on steamdeck with windows installed.
