My games are capped at 60 fps - AMD GPU
So I've been trying to play CP 2077 and Baldur's Gate 3 but for some reason both games are capped to 60 fps. I have a RX 6650 XT and a 1440p 180hz monitor. I've been trying to solve this problem for 3 days now. I checked the monitor refresh rate in display settings, the v-sync ingame and in Adrenalin. The frame rate target control is set to higher fps than 60 (I noticed this option only appears in global settings and cannot change it per game, idk if this is the problem) and no matter what graphics setting I set (ultra 1440p or low 1080p) they stay capped to 60 fps. Any idea how to fix this? I also tried using DDU (driver display uninstaller) but didn't fix it. Also no mods.

It seems like V-Sync or some other setting is capping your FPS. Try turning off V-Sync in both the game and AMD Adrenalin. Also, check if Radeon Chill is on it can limit your FPS too. Make sure to turn off Game Mode in Windows, as it can cause issues. Try running the game in fullscreen, not windowed mode. If nothing works, reinstall drivers after using DDU and check for system updates.

Thank you for the reply. There is no premium freesync option and Cyberpunk 2077 doesnt work with Vulkan, only DX12 so its not really a solution

Thank you for your help. Everything you suggest I tried it already. I play some other online games that doesnt have this fps cap so its not something in the adrenalin app that is keeping everything capped at 60 fps. There must be something else

Many games give you an in-game option to cap your frame rate. I use this to limit power and heat in summer. If it's a problem only in some games, you may have set this in them, perhaps accidentally. Try asking in each game's specific forum, too, if you can't figure it out. Steam doesn't really have anything to do with your frame rates, and if it were a global AMD Software option doing this, it would affect all games.

If you’ve already tried everything, the issue might be with the game’s settings or other software. Some games have their own FPS limits that override driver settings. Check the game’s settings and make sure programs like MSI Afterburner aren’t capping your FPS.
