AMD/ WIndows Gpu preference
Hello everyone,
I am having an issue with my PC's Gpu preferences. About 2 weeks ago, I had a windows error wherein it said that the User profile service was "unavailable." After fixing the error with windows, however, my PC has now set my default gpu as the radeon integrated into my ryzen 5 instead of m,y dedicated rx 6650 xt. I have tried using Adrenalin to set the default gpu as the 6650 xt and have adjusted my registry settings to have the steam library use GpuPreference=2; as the default. These attempt have not worked and the only way around this issue is to manually set the preferred gpu as the 6650 xt in the windows graphics settings for every game. However, this is annoying and not all of my steam games are showing up in the windows settings menu for some reason. Additionally, sometimes what games do appear in the windows menu refuse to boot upon changing the preferred graphics card top the 6650xt. Does anyone have a solution to my problem?
Thank you for your time

Additionally, all amd drivers are up to date. I forgot to mention that in the post.

Problem solved: The reason that the PC was defaulting to the integrated GPU was that I has the display cord plugged into the mobo port and not the GPU. Switching it to the GPU port solved the issue. Additionally, I disabled the integrated GPU in Bios although that was probably unnecessary.

Still not sure why the registry preference change did not work though.

No it was not you did right thingy in turn it off, according to other AMD users, let them tell you this, it has been seen by other user IGPU cause issue even then Main card is in use.

This is not even logic, but we are gamers here and we dont care if it is or not, if it work then we accept it as solved.

ps.
dont you think MAIN board and GPU card support should know this or be better at multi GPU, then ask yourself then why has so many steam user has learn this is not the case.
even turn off IGPU device in the windows device management, and again we dont care how it was turn off if gamer is happy withwhatever solution so be it.

this is why i reply to your post with BIOS turn off IGPU, it could matter. if your IGPU cause issue later as other steam user have notice.

you need to follow last year or been a old pc gamer, then you know this IGPU not the fitst time they cause issue later.

INTEL onboard and AMD user now atm, this is old news, all seen before.

gl with it.
