Someone sent me a gift card but when I try to redeem it from the email I get a blank item?
It's not showing up in my inventory or my history or any notifications. It might be because the sender wasn't my friend and didn't send it to me directly (it was sent to another email that isn't linked to this account).
The first times I tried redeeming it it kept saying there was an error and to try again later but now it's just completely blank.

EDIT:
I got the giftcard, I think Steam just freaks out when the giftcard is in another currency than the one in your account.

That sounds like phishing. "Someone" sent you a gift card to a random unrelated email? No way that's gonna be anything good.
No, it was official Steam Support and I got the Steam card as a prize for a contest. I can assure you it's not phising, I think my inventory might be bugging out but I don't know what to do about it.

Go throught this list for your own safety:

1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.
3. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
4. Change passwords from a trusted/clean device.
5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
6. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

did you have to sign in on another device or anything?

"you won 50 bucks"

or

"here is a free gift card"

are known scams
I won a contest at my school and I got an email from someone at school specifically saying "we sent you a gift card of x amount" and the steam support email with the steam gift description literally references the contest I was a part of... I'm just wondering if I need to contact my school so they send it again or it's an inventory bug...

T.T I don't wanna reveal more because I'd be revealing personal information at that point... if you're gonna keep insisting it's phising/scam/hacking it's not worth commenting thank you

God you people are dumb. Yes, you should reach out to your school and ask that they send you the redemption code for the gift card. Then enter that code into steam on a new browser window (not a link from an email) and it should tell you from there if it is valid and if it can be added to your account. Good luck!
thank you :) I reached out to my school already (they sent the receipt and everything but I think they don't know how to activate it). I think it might be a problem with my account too so I already sent a message to steam support to help with the situation.

Hi OP, I'm facing the same issue and just wanted to know how long it took for the issue to be resolved on your side. Someone I trust bought a digital gift card for me, so I know it isn't a scam, and although I submitted a ticket to Steam support hours ago, I haven't received a response yet.
