The new family sharing question about joining
So you like create a family and you just invite people and if they accept you can share your games with them and they will share their games with you and anyone who is in the group?

Theres no catch? You dont need to give anyone a password? Like before? Because in order to give your friend/family access to your games u had to login to your friends account and allow the sharing thingy on this computer etc etc because i didnt seem to find anything about it in FAQs unless i missed it.

Yes, everyone who is part of the "family" shares all their games.
If you are the creator of the "family" you can just send out invites to anyone on your friend list or via friend code. They then just have to accept on their end, if they use the Steam App its with that, otherwise via email confirmation. Thats it. No need to login into each others PC anymore.

Basically everyone pools their games together and everyone in the family has access to all of them. You also now can play games at the same time, so if 5 people want to play (different ) games that all belong to the same user, that works now.
You also can play them in offline mode, something that was not possible either previously.

BUT, there are some restrictions with the new system.

1. You can only have a family of maximal 6 accounts while previously you could receive shared games from up to 10.

2. If you leave or get kicked out a family you get a 1 year cooldown before you can join another or make your own but you can rejoin your old one without waiting time.

3. You can only add accounts to the family that are from the same country as the one who created the family. So all accounts have to be set to the same region.

Great. Anyways last question while im at it, is there any risk if one of the accounts (not me) got hacked? Can the hacked account do something?

Yeah, any "adult" in the Family can kick any other "adult" (except the creator) so that could be annoying. But thats why you can rejoin your old group without any time penalty.
Also if a account cheats on a shared copy of a game and gets a Vac/gameban both that account and the game orginal owner eat the ban.
But thats already the case with the old Family Share system.

Of course if the family creator account gets hacked it could get ugly and the group completely disolved which then would trigger the 1 year cooldown for everyone in it.
So maybe this is a good way to make users a bit more careful about using shady 3rd party sites or giving out their account data to strangers.

Note it states in the FAQ:

Who can be in a Steam Family?

While we know that families come in many shapes and sizes, Steam Families is intended for a household of up to 6 close family members.

To that end, as we monitor the usage of this feature, we may adjust the requirements for participating in a Steam Family or the number of members over time to keep usage in line with this intent.
