"Slow" downloads speeds on windows
So I have gigabyte internet, but when downloading things on steam on Windows 10 and 11 I get 40- 80 mbs for years like even over ethernet.
Now I recently download Linux on my computer to try it out and on Linux (Debian KDE plasma) my download speeds we 400- 500 mbs with dips to 200-300 but was consistently higher.

This is the same computer so what causes that drastic difference. This was over wifi the computer has a wifi 6 or 6e card in in.

Steams speeds are sowng in MB speedtests and ISP advertise in mb. 8 mb per 1 MB.

Steam also downloads compressed chunks. When a chunk is down it decompressed and installs. If CPU and/or drive is busy with that it'll slow download speeds

Typically I close everything else when I download things. Also I know my speeds are genuine because under the right circumstances they work. I don't expect the whole gigabyte but a decent amount.

How does this explain why on linux I got hundreds of mbs vs not even a hundred on windows? If there's something I can do on windows to get those same speeds I would love to know other than closing everything other than steam. It was the same computer I got these speeds with
