Has to re-download ubisoft games from xbox game pass?

I've installed Assassin's Creed Odyssey using xbox game pass for pc. It used Ubisoft Connect to download and install the game. Now if I buy this game from Steam, I have to download the whole game again? I'm assuming in steam also the installation will happen through ubisoft connect only. Is there a way I can just link the game with steam in ubisoft connect?

Yes. Steam will download game via Steam, and when launch it will open your Ubisoft connect, and your game plays.

2nd part is no because won't be downloading via Ubisoft connect, as you download it from Steam.

Account linking game is something lazy on Ubisoft end, it requires you to launch game from steam to link game with your Ubisoft account.

EA just link your game without downloading the game, as long already link account. This how it worked with Origin.

Hey, I am facing a similar issue. I downloaded the game through Steam too, but even after linking my xbox account to Steam, it does not show my previous progress. Has anyone encountered this?

Because Steam not own, or run by Microsoft.

Now not sure if meant PC game via Xbox app, or the actual xbox which that not same as PC as it up to ubisoft to handle that.

I meant PC Game via Xbox App. I was previously playing using Game Pass on my PC. But my Game Pass has expired now. I bought the game through Steam. But not able to see the saved progress
