Constant Updates!
I've been on steam for some years now and have a large collection of games... I want the option to turn off game updates, it's like ever time I come on line there's an game update new content whatever.... My drives are getting filled up with updates I DO NOT WANT... If for what ever reason you dream up it can not be done lol then I will be forced to leave..... I only use the steam account for hosting games I'm not into multiplayer or any of that nonsense playing with foul mouthed kids is not my idea of fun or community spirit

SO PLEASE CAN WE HAVE THE OPTION TO TURN OFF UPDATES! Give us the choice to keep what we have or to update.....

Please use the forum search function in the future.
I have made good experiences with restricting automatic updates to the time of 3-4 am at night. I'm never online that late, so it effectively means, I can start updates manually whenever I need them or think they would fit in my schedule.

P.S.: Asking about it in a less aggressive manner would have worked too.

I wasted an hour going through help with no success.... then you try to get help and you are sent around the block in a loop of Q&A with NO option for bloody updates.... so out of desperation I have to post in here and deal with all you freaks! It's quite simple I DON'T WANT GAME UPDATES NEW CONTENT UPDATES AND SO ON.... PATCHES FOR BUGS ARE WELCOME!!!!
If it's really small updates, it's probably shader cache. You can turn those off in the Steam settings.

If they're other updates, either use what Jerry said or set the games to only update on launch. That has to be done individually by right clicking the game -> properties -> in the updates tab.
Use only update from and to hour under DL section.

02:00 to 04:00 most dont play games then they are sleeping. ( adapt it, to your off-peek hours. )

ps.
you cant stop update then itsa online game or recent played, they are seen as highly frequent access files and user might want to keep them update. ( and it still dont mean you are in controll over then its update, this is same as under covid-19 this is just from other side, then steam have time or think its a good idea then they have server idle time. ) you are not in control over it.

ps.
dont DL while playing another thing, user forget here, as a choise.

game is build on game devs update, this will feel worse the more games you own, 1000 or 5000 games its still same thing even happend more with more content.

learn to use DL Restrictions.

The whole basis of Steam from it's begging to now is to ensure games are always up to date. There will never be an option to prevent those updates from being applied.

From what you've written here, I'm assuming you have a few games installed that are mainly MP but have a SP component that you enjoy playing. Unfortunately games like that have not been designed to separate the SP and MP files in such a way to avoid MP content updates. For that you'll want to direct your complaints toward the devs of that game and not Steam. It's the devs that designed the game and them who are pushing out the updates to your games. Steam is simply applying them at the devs request.

Game developers have the ability to host their game on Steam in such a way to allow for updates to be somewhat optional but it is up to them to make that effort. There are a handful that make it possible.

Youve been on Steam for 2 years now. Not some years. Its not hard to count to 2.

We all have a collection of games. Thats what Steam is for.

You cant play a game unless it's updated, so if you dont want to update it, that means you dont want to play it.

SO UNINSTALL IT.
