Updated Nvidia drivers and now steam games are unplayable
So I installed Assassin's Creed 3 and when I started playing it had a glitch. I looked it up and it said that the solution was to update my drivers. I did and the hair glitch is gone but now my games are playing at 3-5 fps.Unfortunately I can't do a driver rollback because first I updated them through windows and It installed the wrong version so I had to go to the Nvidia website to install the right version. I have no idea what my driver was before I updated it. I've also tried clean installing and uninstalling of numerous driver versions to see if it would solve the problem with no such luck. I'm getting pretty frustrated and can't afford to buy a new computer right now. I know my machine can handle these games because they played just fine before the update. So if I can't figure out this driver issue it will be as if I don't have a graphics card at all. I've created several forums about my problems so If anyone has any help beyond "Installing an older driver version" then I will greatfully appreciate your help. Thank you!

Specs:
Alienware M11x R2
Win 7 64bit
i7 U 640 @ 1.2ghz
Nvidia Geforce GT 330m
8 GB DDR3 Ram

What was your frame rate before and what res/settings were you using? GT 330m is one slow card to begin with.

This guy is right. That GPU is pretty bad. If this started to happen after you updated drivers it has to be a driver issue. If you are unable to sort out your drivers you could do a system restore to an earlier time.

Also never ever let windows update drivers. They are never the best ones, often it installs wrong ones altogether. All kinds of people are having issues with Assassin's Creed 3. Even people with good computers.

Roll back your laptop driver by downloading the OEM driver from the Dell website.

When you say you're getting 5 FPS it makes me think you're using the integrated GPU instead of the discrete one. Does your laptop have dual-GPUs, one integrated and one discrete? If so I would look there for a solution.

Start by going into the Nvidia Control Panel, Manage 3D settings, and select your Nvidia as the preferred video card. Then try your games again. Do that before trying anything else.

Thankyou! I feel like an idiot. Can't believe it was something so simple. I completely overthought it.
Doh

Nvidia and AMD both make good products. Saying Nvidia sucks is fanboy talk. Does every single product they make suck? This was user error in this case.
