Damnit! Thank you for testing though.
Steam\BIN\libcef.dll version (Chromium embedded Framework DLL) 1.1025.1248.0 is the culprit. The one inside my Left 4 Dead 2 bin directory is older and it works if replaced (version 1.989.464.0). Too bad everytime I restart Steam this libcef.dll gets resetted again. The only workaround is to open a game, get the gameoverlayui.exe crash with libcef.dll; close the dialog and replace libcef.dll with the older version while Steam is still opened. Annoying to say the least.
PS - Keep in mind that libcef.dll will probably be locked by Steam and cannot be replaced unless you get the gameoverlayui.exe crash dialog, which sometimes I don't get. In this case you cannot perform the above workaround.
So how is this better than renaming libcif.dll to libcif.dll2 or am i missing something.
By the way. What happens when you just rename the dll? does overlay start working again?
By using the older libcef.dll, overlay comes to life again.
