Games Won't Install - DirectX installer hung

OK, so the last 3 games I bought, I cannot play. Thanks to Microsoft DirectX continually stuck on Step 1 of 2 install prior to game installation. I know why they have to insall this before each game (did the research), but how am I supposed to enjoy anything I buy on Steam? This only happened as of a few days ago...wtf?

I'm having same problem with dead isalnd riptide , did you find a solution?

Just click the X. It happens sometimes to me. The game lanches after I click the X. Be aware that if you use a product such as CCleaner and you clean the Steam Directory, you may have to reinstall the whole game. They suggest people who use system cleaners that have Steam cleaning functionality built in , to launch the game at least once before running a cleaning process.

Find the installer for DirectX in the game folder and install as administrator. Might help, might now...Just an idea...

You can abort the DX install process in the task manager, if your machine is already updated.

I am having the same issue. However, my entire system locks up. This issue popped up about three days ago. I was able to get several other games installed and playing with no problem but anything after that hangs at DirectX. Sometimes even Windows will lock up.

I downloaded a game and the DirectX gets stuck on step 1 of 2 and even if I X it out my game will not launch. I don't know how to fix it, help?

You may have to manually install the component

My computer says it is installing DirectX and the window finishes downloading but when I try to play the game I just goes back to installing DirectX again.
