Steam sections frozen after trade offer
OK, brief description;
Yesterday I placed two trade offers, maybe I used the same metal in both and both where accepted. Not sure if this is what caused the problem.

Now when I go to the trade after inventory the screen locks up, the little wheel in top right corner is moving. Can go back to Library section and start games. If I choose anything in Community, Store or JC:) (last section) it defaults back to the locked up trade offers screen. And I can only do this from the Library screen, it will not leave the trade offers screen to any other but the Library.

I have restarted steam twice, restarted my pc twice (one cold boot), same problem exists. So there must be a file that has to be removed, I am sure on my pc. Which one is it and where?

If I exit steam, than restart steam it does not start. I have to reboot my system, and each time it says its updating and installing. Where I hardly ever had that prior unless there was an update. And I am sure that you are not putting out updates within 15 minutes of each other 3 in a row this morning, anyway.

Removing ClientRegistry.blob and restarting did not resolve issue.

no, steams sections noted above that froze, freeze. I can not click anything in the trades section without it cause the sections noted to freeze. I can only go to library section. If i choose anything from the other three it takes me back to the trade window and its frozen, nothing works.

Happening to me also, restarting steam, refreshing files, using browser, nothing works

I got the same problem here. My steam client screen locks up but my browser does not. I still cannot complete the trade in the browser though because I get an error message saying "There was an error accepting this trade offer. Please try again later."

my problem is I can not cancel the trade, there is no option for that and it states "items now unavailable for trade" when I go to the offer history.

I did find a way around this that worked for me. Select view friends profile, in the top right pull down "More" select trade and it brings up a second screen to offer a trade. Since the person accepted the trade it worked. If they make a counter offer where you actually have to go into the trade offers panel....well the could be russian roulette.

Exec Summary: Client browser monopolizes one core of your CPU when it hangs, use the task manager to kill Steam; Agree with recommendation of using alternate browsers until fixed.

Looking into this problem, it seems that there's a bug that causes the browser component of steam to get trapped in what looks like a busy-wait mutex or other infinite loop. Because of the multithreaded nature of the client, library and chat functions are still available, but anything needing the browser (store/community/profile) will fail to load. The loop will also proceed to uselessly take up any spare processing power on one of your CPU cores (steady 25% usage on a quad-core machine), and prevent the Steam process from quitting. I've tracked the loop into a dll which is part of Chromium, but I don't have enough information to determine what it's trying to do, or whether the error is even near the loop.

I've had slightly more success following the Trade Offers link from the profile activity overview rather than the one from the inventory, but using a different browser may be the better plan. I've also had the bug crop up rarely on other pages. If you do encounter the bug, take the time to kill Steam and restart it, particularly if you're thinking of starting up a game.

Hi, I experience the Mutex Error when I am playing Attila. It seems to appear every time when my internetconnection fails due to the modemstick freezing up. Removing the Modemstick, restarting Windows and creating a new connection to the internet seems to resolve the problem, obviously until the next time the modemstick freezes up again. Modem stick: Wireless-N Dual Band stick from Netgear.
Has anyone noticed this error appearing when the modem / internetconnection fails?
