'Away' status...
When i go idle for about 5 minutes or so, steam automatically sets my status to 'away'. This is a good idea, but when im watching videos or doing something that is non-interactive with the computer and it sets me to 'away', even when im not, its quite annoying. Is there a way to change the time until it automatically switches your status? if not, this might be a helpful setting, as my friends get annoyed by it also.

Well, this is a good idea to add to the settings, would be very useful. thank you :)

Would also be nice to revert back to the original setting that kept the status you choose regardless of your connection to the server being broken (it was originally like this, not sure why they thought it would be better without it).

It is quite annoying not only to myself but to my friends as I have to keep setting my status after every connection to server lost (which can occur frequently during bad weather), after wake up from snooze status and after power saving mode turns off my monitors.

Hate to bump a two-year old thread, but this would /still/ be a GREAT addition to the interface. The auto-away function has many of my friends and I myself convinced that 'away' is literally the same as 'online'. If someone sets themselves to 'away' manually, there's no real way to tell if they're actually gone without messaging them anyway and waiting to see if their status changes within a few seconds.

In short, /stop changing my online status against my will ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥./

EDIT: Programs performing tasks without our input is what lead to Skynet, by the way.

Yeah I hate it. I have to have it always away now. I'm surprised they haven't changed it so it goes away when your screensaver starts.

Valve has like 300 years of experience of this client, but they still fail to do things right
