does steam do something about scammers? (who try via chat)
lately ive been added by 2 people who tried to scam me over the steam chat.

(basically they all start the same, they have something very important to ask or tell me, then they ask if i bought an item from them, then showing me supposed screenshots which shows my account purchasing a 500$ item from them, it was from RUST, then saying they reported me because they didnt get the money and they are sorry, then they show another screenshot of the supposed ban happening in 24h if i not talk to the steam support which is a nother user shown on the ban, i never went further since i value my time, but i assume they further want my log in data or something)

i provided the steam support with the chat log and the links to the faked images with my account.

but can they actually do something if they just tried to scam me via the chat? no other comments on profiles ect.

or should i go along with them longer for them to maybe let them incriminate themselves more?

Seeing as Valve did this in the beta branch on the 7th...

Suspicious or harassing 1 on 1 chat messages can now be reported directly in the chat window by right clicking the message or from the 'Suspicious Chat' warning. You can optionally block and/or unfriend the other user while submitting the report.

... while it may take time for the reports to be looked at, yes.

Report the profiles and move on with life. Valve will deal with them.

I did i was just wondering if it's wasted time to even report them since it's just in chat.

Nah, it's not wasted time. There's is a very high chance they get banned just for the initial bother cause they probably do it to more than just you and it will be pretty obvious.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Told him I was not stupid to fall for an obvious scam and if he contacted me again, I will go to the Steam admin. His name was 'Collon' or something like that
