flickering black interface on windows 7
now before all of you say it, yes yes i know, windows 7 is old as ♥♥♥♥. just hear me out.

not my main pc, i have an old laptop i bring on trips that i would like to download some of my old games that i KNOW already work on it just fine, it runs on windows 7 (upgrading is not an option), but heres the issue:

the steam interface turns completely black, and i mean corner to corner its just a big black square with no visible buttons, not even the "resize window" handle on the bottom right corner or the X at the top right. all solid black. occasionally it will flicker away for a split second and ill see the steam interface behind it but its not long enough to navigate.

is there anything anyone knows of that could get me access to my steam library to download some of the old windows 7 compatible games off there?

Steam stopped offering support and updates to the client for win 7 in Jan 2024... so yeah steam was bound to break for win 7 users at some point.

Though you may get lucky, maybe someone will have a workaround for you.

Outside of an UI issues, I don't think Windows 7 supports the current protocols Steam uses for downloads, so that's going to prevent you from downloading anything regardless. It may not be absolutely impossible, but at some point the juice isn't going to be worth the squeeze.
