Steam Client Webhelper
After the update , I have +5 processes on task manager and it takes +3/5% CPU every time, even and idle.

In game it can reach +6%.

This only started happening after the update.

I just launched the old client UI and the usage is gone.

Loading my profile it's +15% on the new client. In game is stays +10%.

Once I start steam with old ui the problems are gone.

The new update is trash.

Reduced performance on cpu bound games.
It's not complaining for the sake of complaining.
Simply going to my profile ramps up the cpu fans on the new update. This doesnt happen on the old UI. On games the cpu gets hotter by a good amount as well because of the adiotnal usage.

The update is honestly very very bad.

And you attitude is honestly as trash as the update.

It's not a "if", there's definitely problems that need to be fixed.

For people having this problem and not waiting to wait for a fix simply add this the the steam shortcut:

-vgui

This will load steam with the old UI and the steamwebhelper high cpu usage is fixed.

I have a better cpu than you. Its not an hardware issue for sure.

Also, my specs are on my profile.

And you keep missing the fact that reverting to the old ui fixes the cpu usage.
Regardless if I had a potato or not.

But I understand that might be difficult for you to follow given that you lack the basic knowledge about the topic of this thread.

Whatcha gonna do when -vgui is removed in a year?

I mean you can bluster all you want, but let's not forget my system works fine as is. You can't really make me feel badly for that. :KentWinning:

Again with the nonsense.

Why would steam remove the ability to laucnh the old UI? So, you can win an argument?
You're so full of crap.

There are much older commands that are still available and never scrapped.
Your ability to look clueless is impressive.

Mine is using a lot of my RAM... I just restarted steam and it was using almost 12GB. Seems like theres some sort of memory leak going on hehe

I also noticed an increase in ram usage. +600mb with all steam processes on the new UI.

With the command to enable the old UI the usage is less than 200mb.

For me it doesn't really matter because I'm running 32gb ram but this could be an issue for lower end pc's.

The increase in cpu usage is very noticeable for me though.

Maybe you should look what's happened to other stopgap console commands from past updates. For example.

https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SteamClientBeta/discussions/3/3710433479207750727/

Lots of console commands are older than -no-browser and -noreactlogin too, but age of a console command isn't relevant. Some commands are a permanent part of the client and their utility hasn't changed over time and they were never intended to be temporary. But that's not true for every command.

Valve updated the Library and the Friends chat, and people hated that and had all sorts of issues there too. So they'd use -no-browser to use the old version of the feature. The existing UI, and the console command to use the old version don't strike me as really any different.

I was teasing you about was the year thing, apologies for that. It could be longer, a couple of years maybe, but a lot less than forever or for the life of Steam. And as time goes on I would also expect the old UI to be more broken as the main UI evolves and the old UI isn't updated to match.

Of course by the time they remove it, you might be over your negative feelings about the new UI. And it might work fine according to your beliefs and values. But mark my words, the old UI isn't a permanent part of the client.

Good luck.
