Error 'Failure: No License' when downloading demos

This was posted under Steam Discussions by another user, but I figured I'd repost this here for better visibility.

Anyone else running into this issue? What caused it for me was downloading a bunch of demos at once; I had a huge queue going. What worked for a while was letting the queue finish, then download another 'chunk' of demos. Now my queue is cleared up again but the message persists. Restarting Steam didn't help and I can't reboot my PC at the moment.

This is a glaring problem as I can't download anything from any category. Rather disappointing as I was looking forward to Next Fest again.

EDIT: Now it's working again. This is so strange. Must be the servers or something. Just gotta have patience with this, I guess. If performance is THIS bad though, wait until Summer Sale...

I am running into the same issue with the Steam Next Fest trying to download demos some give the error some don't not sure what causes it

Issue persists in TYOOL 2025, for this year's iteration of Next Fest.

wrt to your summer sale comment, this event is geared around demos, I think for Summer Sale people are just buying and not downloading demos en masse.

People use the Next Fests to mass download all Demos. It's a real pain for the few that get this error.

Sorry to hear you guys are still running into this annoying error. What's helped me this year (with over 280 demos downloaded!) is just NOT queuing the downloads whatsoever. Just download one demo at a time. Wait for it to finish 100% before moving to the next one. Annoying, but its the only workaround that I've had success with.
