Chat Notifications?

ever since the update i dont get notifications when i login to see if anyone messaged me, i looked around settings but couldnt find anything. did they remove this or am i just blind?

Ill bump this instead of making a new thread. The notifications for messages IS NOT enabled for the main steam client window and to access it you must open the friends & chat window. This is by far the worst part of the new UI and needs to be fixed. Nothing is worse than having to click a bunch of windows open and closed again just to see if you have gotten a message while offline. Enable chat notifications in the main client in the bell icon again.

It's muuuuuuuchhhhhhh less annoying and intrusive.

Well its less of a bug and more of an omission. Someone somewhere thought that chat notifications dont belong there or forgot to add them to that system when it was remade. If it were something like a bug the option would be there and it wouldnt work or the like.

Straight up omission just like Community Messages were for over a month.

Hopefully. Because it now looks like the mobile notifications which don't show chat messages by design.

Yeah, it's bloody annoying. The one thing I actually used the notifications for and they screwed it up.

I don't sign in to the friends list by default, I only do so when I receive messages or in the odd case I want to send a message myself. So right now I'm actually missing messages due to not getting notifications.
