Something grabbing foreground?
A few times now since the new update, I've been playing a game or idling in a game and it shoots me back to the steam client as if I tabbed out (which I didn't). Something in the new UI is yanking me out of my games, but I can't figure out what could be doing it. Any ideas?

This happens to me as well since the new update, it's driving me insane.

I have all notifications off. Running on windows 10.

I'll give it a shot, but I have a suspicion it's just going to say "steam" and not tell me anything new.

I'd appreciate knowing if that app leads to the solution. This has been happening to me for years, games randomly minimize to the desktop and I can't figure out why. I thought it was my anti-virus doing it because every time it happens my anti-virus is showing in the task bar (it should be minimized, icon out of sight). I have exceptions in my AV set for all my games so it shouldn't be interrupting them.

If someone solves this issue please share the solution!

Check your anti-virus and all your security features including the windows security features.

Sadly, it only showed "No foreground application" when it happened. Good times, these.

I googled "games keep minimizing" and found a suggestion that shared this:

Right-Click on the Start Button and open Settings
> open Gaming when the control panel opens
> go to Gaming Mode. It's on the left panel of the Gaming options window.
Turn it off.

Mine was on, I turned it off but haven't run a game long enough to test it yet. No minimizes so far.

Didn't change a thing. Ugh. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Found an app called Window On Top, it makes sure that whatever you're doing stays on focus. Kinda sucks that we need to go to third party to solve this though.

Do any of you have the EA App installed? I have a sneaking suspicion that it might be the culprit as it seems to be running some kind of filter over my display. I discovered this by running an NVidia capture on my desktop to record some Clip Studio stuff and instead of getting sorted to the normal "Desktop" folder, it went to a new one called "EA Desktop". I didn't like that at all.

I also noticed that it has nothing to do with games, it seems. I was typing random stuff in Notepad and all of a sudden I couldn't anymore and each keystroke registered a bell sound like when you try to do something you can't. So some phantom process stole focus for a split second and never returned it to the notepad window.

I've killed the EA app for now and I'll launch it when I need it, but I'll see how my PC behaves without it.

Ok, disregard my last. I used a different focus logger and this time it was Steam pulling me out of the game. I'll investigate some more, but I guess I'll just have to follow Oded's lead.

( i had no gpu accelratinn for years cant say its a steam issue. )
