Steam consumes 40% of memory
Steam consumes 30-40% of Memory, even when the game has not started yet, because of this, browsers, games, discord crash and almost kills the computer (I have 8 gb of memory) (Checked viruses, dont have any)

Did you started to experience this with the new client update? You could try to reinstall Steam in order to see if it has something to do with the cache.

Not to sound too condescending but 8GB of RAM is just not enough anymore in 2023.
RAM is dirt cheap and has been for a while, a 32GB kit is like 80 bucks on Amazon.
Most games now have a 16 GB RAM minimum requirement.

Its time to upgrade if you are still on only 8GB of RAM.

My settings are like Nx Machina posted in post #2 and Steam doesn't even break 1 GB for me, and that with half a dozen Steam windows open at the same time. I can't imagine how it's using over 3GB for you.
