New UI Update is crashing steamwebhelper.exe constantly, any ideas?
Was happening to me when I had the beta update on, then I opted out. Now that the new UI is out, I was hoping the issue was fixed but apparently not. I can't find any information, and seemingly no one else is having this issue.

Every single time I click on Steam's icon in the taskbar, steamwebhelper.exe just immediately crashes and I have tried both the "restart steam with X disabled" to no avail. Steam is nigh unusable for me right now, does anyone have ideas?

Win10, RX580, R7 1800x (if specs matter at all)

Just to update: No Bitdefender here but the bleeding steam makes my Victoria 3 crash then the bleedingsteamwebhelperonlyinname.exe stops working.

I will try adding the steam folder to exemptions in windows defender and let's see if it can cross the Rubicon
Atleast steam beta seemed to cause these problems. I disabled it and my problems are gone. Once randomly had the error after
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -vgui :pinkheart:

Back to old version!

Actually, the beta branch seems to have fixed it now. Cause I turned on beta branch a little while ago and it hasn't crashed at all now, but that's just for me. You may want to try it again.
Yeah, I switched to beta, worked fine until i upgraded gpu drivers and it started crashing again!
Same issue here on 2 machines with the latest steam update. One with an Intel i7-4790K CPU and a nvidia 1650, and the other with an AMD 5800x3D and a RTX2080's. Maybe steam now just needs more than 8GBs of video GPU ram to render the new UI.

Same question, 13900k+RTX 4090+32GB RAM. No bitedefender. The steam client webhelper always crashing and restart.

If you have integrated gpu try disabling it from device manager > display adapters.

Could there be an option in Steam that says "if steamwebhelper.exe crashes, restart automatically"?
I don't understand why I have to do this manually each time. Stop telling me it's crashed and restart the damn thing!
I read it could be a problem with the number of installed games and drives involved....1.5k games here. Try to reduce installed and use only one library (drive).

I am only using a single 4TB SSD and have about 300 games installed.

The old big picture picture mode and the Deck UI, crap tastic mode does not seem to like the number of games I have installed. So for now my solution is just to buy games on other platforms while I wait on them getting round to doing some code optimisation or adding better windows support.

Posted this already in a similar thread, but I'll post again here. I've literally not had any issue with Steam until recently. Something broke Steam for me completely, and now it's completely unusable.

Very often will the steamwebhelper just flat out refuse to let Steam load. I've had to reinstall Steam so many times, disable firewall, remove the bin file, set exceptions in firewalls for Steam and steamwebhelper, literally nothing works. Someone said it was actually Windows updates screwing with it, which it was.. kinda.

It'll LOAD Steam.. sometimes. But it doesn't fix the issue still. That same error is still popping up, but I'm still able to use Steam. Only problem is that it's permanently in offline mode, can't set myself to online, change status, nothing. Other times, like it's doing right now, because of the faulty webhelper, will not allow Steam to load at all. It will give you the error, and you will try all methods of restarting, exiting, and no matter what it will not let you into Steam unless it decides it wants you to.

Please fix your stuff, Valve! Stop removing things like -vgui and disabling the browser, because now thanks to your recent efforts I cannot access Steam at all!
