I don't understand why you people thought this was a good idea, why change the UI into something completely new while the previous one was okay? it was nostalgic, it was flawless.
It was cool, and now i have to learn my way around it all over again, either add an option to revert to the old look or REVOKE this new UI entirely.

I am NOT happy with this update, steam devs.
Please give us an option to switch back.

Someone posted it in another thread but just add -vgui to steam shortcut launch options and it will give you the old ui.

New update is terrible, small mode is now bloated, cannot even view community or store page for a game now without going to large mode

Thank you! I was suffering from a badly flickering and lagging screen and completely unusable tabs and menu buttons at the top of the page. However, -vgui brought me back to the previous Steam UI so that I can actually function again.

I cant stand it, between the fact update tabs are way bigger now, down to in game tabs being wider, to the bootleg Netflix screens, and miserable performance in the library and store screens. Genuinely garbage, it baffles me how theyll add one or two good things and then make everything else worse

Mine refuses to even stay in the new "small mode" I hate the new UI

it also takes longer to login, shutdown, and cloudsync. All are now slower, when just recently they were making changes to the standard ui to be faster, more responsive, guess that was all for nothing.

Totally agree. The recent changes to the app should be rolled back. In particular the team who implemented the last changes should be dissolved and removed from the task. They do not understand interface and they deteriorate the app.

I cannot use the steam application at all. As soon as I open it, it starts using almost all of my processor. please bring back the old client. this is so bad ah

I agree, this new UI sucks arse, it's way more glitchy than the last one and is terrible overall to go around. The only thing as of now that I like about the update is the notes, but again I could just tab out and make notes on my pc/paper

My biggest gripes are;
- Constant refreshing of pages / no preloading / caching. What is that 500-1GB RAM usage doing?
- Much harder to read and everything is scaled up for touch screens(?)
- Game info is massive now with no option to resize. I track servers using these and can only fit half the amount on my screen. Glancing over takes more effort due to the layout / font size / size etc.
- Exiting steam takes much longer, up to 10 seconds at times.
- Custom UI skins are dead

The one thing I can commend is the new in-game overlay for those that use it. The notes bit looks pretty cool as well. I personally turn it off for the best performing game / latency.

I agree. The new UI sucks. The previous one sucked already since a few years. But the new one sucks even more.
It sucks just as the Windows 11 UI sucks. Just as the Adobe CC sucks. It sucks as the whole world sucks.
And this sucking 'evolution' is so fast that I hope I'll die before the next UI stage will be released...
