Steam for PC not available
When I attempt to download steam for my laptop, a get a message saying it’s not available in the Microsoft store.

The Steam desktop client can be installed through here https://store.steampowered.com/about/ it is not available in the Microsoft Store.

Unfortunately, that link didn't work. It just took me back to the initial download page with the Microsoft store install link.

That is highly unusual. Because the big blue button at the link the user posted is a direct download for the Exe file.

It shouldn't in any way bring you to the Microsoft Store. Steam isn't even on the Microsoft store page.

What sort of laptop is this?
Do you run with Admin rights?

I'm not familiar with how that page redirects you to the Microsoft Store for the Steam client. However, this is the link that is presented to me when I hover over the Install Steam button:
https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/client/installer/SteamSetup.exe
That should download the installer directly without having to invoke the Microsoft Store, hopefully.

edit: I'm now remembering there are versions of Windows that do not allow the installation of programs outside of the Microsoft Store. You're not by any chance using a Windows 10 S edition, or in S Mode, at all?
