That's exactly my issue. Until they fix it, I'm going to have to try to find third party options to take screenshots. The fact that it's been known about since the beta and not yet fixed in the final release gives me unfortunate worries that a fix won't be anytime soon.
Clearing Steam Cache won't fix this?
I saw somewhere a way to roll back? But, I don't know how secure that'd be.
Frustrated enjoy(er) of screenshots. Once upon a time I chose steam for it's convenience of ss taking and sharing. Now it's a pain in the a**. O.o
To get sound notification to work you have to completely restart the game after turning it on. Don't think that was the case with the old UI so another downgrade to the new steam.
Now when you hold the Windows key and press the Print Screen key, it should just be saved with no apparent notification. This is not completely ideal, as it saves all of your monitors, but it works well. On the bright side, it's immediate and doesn't lag when using.
The screenshots will be saved in User\\Pictures\Screenshots.
*I am using Windows 10. Not sure if it's the same for 11.
It should be a general feature for Windows 10. Unless your Alienware software disabled it for some reason.
Your keyboard could make a difference. Is it a laptop or are you using a keyboard with FN key functions? If you have one, try plugging in a regular keyboard to see if it makes a difference. That won't necessarily help you overall, but it will narrow the problem down.
Don't disable the windows visual effect to see if the feature is even working to begin with. Try holding the Windows Key and hitting Print Screen, and see if it does the dimming animation, which is its notification that a screenshot was taken. Although I guess it doesn't matter. If the screenshot takes, it will create the screenshot folder inside your main pictures folder, even if you didn't yet have one.
My bet is that is probably why? TY for the tip~! Sweet :D I like shortcuts~! I often use them when I can remember the key. If I hit fn and f6, it turns off my windows key all together so I have to remember that one. F6 is next to sound so I sometimes hit it on accident.
I'm thinking it is because of my keyboard/laptop function key.
I wound up resorting back to the old version of steam :D In steam shortcut properties,
add -vgui after the exe"
near the top (Target) and you can use the old version again. Then restart steam :)
Noticed the old path to screenshots storage is Steam\userdata\25191997\760\remote but whenever I go to Steam client > View > Screenshots All of games are and were listed, current installed and in the past are empty.
All I see is an option to take screenshots uncompressed leading this path:C:\Users\Daniel\Documents.
Whoa! I feel so much robbed, taking out of all of screenshots stored on disk. Is like having my life erased.....part of my gaming life. Seriously I had screenshots from 17 years ago saved.
Mine are still there. Did you check?
