New update broke Screenshot Notification disable option
The new update broke the in-game overlay functionality to disable screenshot notifications. It simply no longer works. Whether it's toggled off or on, it will always display a screenshot notification in the bottom right corner.

Anyone know of a workaround?

*My current solution until it is fixed:

So the best option I've found is using Windows Key+Print Screen. You will need to disable the dimming animation. You can do this by doing the following:
  • Do a Windows search for and access "Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows." Just typing in "performance" also brings it up. Clicking it will then open Performance Options.
  • Under the Visual Effects tab, you will need to uncheck the "Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing". This function removes the dimming that occurs when taking screenshots (for some reason).

Now when you hold the Windows key and press the Print Screen key, it should just be saved with no apparent notification. This is not completely ideal, as it saves all of your monitors, but it works well. On the bright side, it's immediate and doesn't lag when using.

The screenshots will be saved in User\\Pictures\Screenshots.

*I am using Windows 10. Not sure if it's the same for 11.

**Oh and if you want to change the location of the screenshots, just right click the folder and select the "Location" tab. Then press the "Move" button to change where they save.

I have the Fn key. O.o I have to use Fn key with top keys for sound, brightness, etc. Laptop Alienware Area 51. O.o My specs are in my "about me" if needed, though dates and versions have not been updated.

My bet is that is probably why? TY for the tip~! Sweet :D I like shortcuts~! I often use them when I can remember the key. If I hit fn and f6, it turns off my windows key all together so I have to remember that one. F6 is next to sound so I sometimes hit it on accident.

I'm thinking it is because of my keyboard/laptop function key.

I wound up resorting back to the old version of steam :D In steam shortcut properties,
add -vgui after the exe"
near the top (Target) and you can use the old version again. Then restart steam :)

Broken for me as well. Not too hopeful about a fix. I wish updates like these were optional.
At least the notification is not visible on the screenshot like it is on Ubisoft connect overlay, but there it's optional not like now on steam's

Well, that's a plus at least.
The newest update did not fix the screenshot pop up issue. :(

I'm sticking with the old ui for now

How do you do that?
+1 yea it's annoying

also option of choosing where notification is displayed would be good. used to it being down right corner of screen but in a game like portal 2 it's right upper corner.

I just get "specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct."
Same problem here.

Check first option to disable notification on desktop (when you e.g.upload a screenshot) and second one to disable screenshot notification when you take ss in the game. :excite:
I checked and both work.

Sorry, didn't see the response. Yeah, go to your STEAM launch icon, right click and go to properties. If it's embedded in your taskbar, right click on it, then right click on "steam" and go to properties.

In properties, see "target"? Don't delete anything~!

Just add a space after it and then add -vgui

Note: The cool thing is that we can still access notes :D

Haha TY I just saw you posted it as your solution :D I'm glad to help. Feels good when you can help another :104: Back to gaming, right?! YEAH~! :D :D
