Mouse freezes when Steam is running
When I start up steam, my mouse freezes every couple of seconds as if its using up resources or something. I know its definitely not a hardware problem because it only occurs when steam is running. Also I am not using any Razer products.

It started happening randomly, I don't remember installing anything or doing anything significant on the day I encountered the problem. Steam is at around 10,000k - of memory usage when its closed and found that its memory reaches over 100,000K when I have it open and I'm clicking around in it. When I close the steam window it drops back down to 10,000K but the mouse still stutters until I exit steam. Also, the cpu spikes up and down a bit up to 14% with steam open.

I have installed and uninstalled steam numerous times on both my ssd and hhd with no difference. I have updated my drivers n'that, run a ccleaner registry clean up, scanned for viruses, done a system restore and thoroughly searched the internet for a solution.
I hope the steam community can help me out of this!

Thanks.

My system specs are:

OS Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
System Type x64-based PC
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3801 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
Graphics card GTX 670

Hi! i had similiar problem recently and i figured it out.

Download "latencymon". its a program that detects what programs are causing "lag spikes".
When latencymon is running, cause the freezing happen again and then go back to latencymon(pause it) and check for "processes" tab for what was causing lots of hard pagefaults and in "drivers" tab for which drivers are causing "highest execution time".

if you have custom build-up computer and wireless network, these things happens usually.

mine was network driver related and i had to update driver manually by googling all the specific driver specs. atleast i had this problem with windows7 64, that my device manager didnt update all my drivers automatically, so that why i had manually update some drivers.

if your device manager is saying that you have latest drivers, double check it for sure.

and check your motherboard manufacturers site for latest motherboard drivers too.
