Search items from friends inventory?
Is there a way to search through all friends inventorys for a certain item? I'm trying to see if any of my friends have the wolfpack DLC gift.

of course not. why would you be looking at all your friends inventories at the same time.

the search would put a strain on the server just by searching one inventory with 1,000+ pages. why risk this with multiple inventory searches all at once?

one at a time is good enough.

I thought you were joking at first (post #9) but now realize you weren't. I'm pretty sure I'm older than you too.

You're analogy is a bit extreme. Physical riffling vs intangible quasi-good riffling is a bit different.
not really , going through someones belongings is the same either way . it's a lack of respect for others ,nosey and intrusive .
but that's just my opinion ,
i wonder what miss manners would say
Well, if you REALLY go into someone's house you can be arrested for that. I doubt you would for going through someone's inventory. Again, because in a real situation there is an implied expectation of privacy at ALL TIMES while on Steam there is not, unless that privacy is expressly enforced by the user or, in this case, waived.

so it's ok because there is no legal repercussion ?
just because you can doesnt mean you should , it shows a lack of respect for others aand their property

no it's not. big conglomerate tech companies already look through your data without your consent, so that's not new. This feature is exceptionally useful when you want something to trade with your friends. let's say he has a rare item you're willing to buy / trade for him at a high price. it's a win win for both parties. and if you don't want anyone snooping through your inventory then just make it private
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
