[SOLVED] Steam Error - Could Not Connect To Steam Network

I had to login to Steam from my internet browser to write this discussion. I've been trying to solve this problem for god knows when. Days turned to weeks, weeks into months. The last time I was able to play a game was May 12th 2013, over 8 months ago (exactly 251 days ago), simply because I couldn't login.

This is exactly what the error message states every time I try to login:

I have tried:
1. IP reset
2. Winsock reset
3. After reset, reboot
4. Full PC scan
5. Updating Steam
6. Troubleshoot Steam Network Connection
7. Firebind Test - Result: Successful
8. Updated all programs
9. Troubleshoot my network
10. Being patient

This has gone on for far too long.

Hi, I don't know what is happening, I have the same issue, for litteraly no reason. I was playing my game, then stopped it normally (i was offline mode) and when i tried to go online mode, i couldn't and it only allowed me to stay in offline mode saying steam was unable to connect to servers.
I ended up uninstalling steam and everything (all the games and saves gone), and now it's worse I can't even connect at all. My brother is using steam on his computer and it's working fine. Mine just won't work
If anyone has an idea... I already scanned my pc, and all I did was installing a steam game before this issue happened (which is now uninstalled when i uninstalled steam)
help i saw so many threads, i'm losing faith into steam now.

okay so here i am again to say, maybe it will help some of you.
I finally fixed the problem, so i'll list here what I did :

-uninstalling steam
-reinstalling steam
-trying to relog (didn't work, unable to connect to steam servers)
-disabled my firewall even if I never touched it before
-relog on steam, now it worked
-reenabled firewall, steam is working fine for now but I have to download my games, not sure if I really had to uninstall steam and everything, maybe just disable and reenable firewall did the work here.
good luck with your issue, the threads are kinda hard to understand as we're experiencing the same issue but from different sources....

Hello everyone still having this issue! There is a fix i haven't seen on here that should work!

Steps:
1. Go to wherever your steam.exe is (main steam directory)
2. Scroll down until u find the steam .exe, notice below it there is a file called steam.exe.old. Tl;dr this is a backup exe for the last version of steam than the one installed now.
3. Delete the MAIN steam.exe
4. Rename the Steam.exe.old to just Steam.exe
5. Run steam from this new exe.

It will have to re-download the latest update as i said this is an old version .exe, but you will keep all your games and files and everything don't worry. Hope it works! If u have any questions just message me.

I haven't been able to get on for the past two days, all of a sudden. I've done all the troubleshooting I can, did the 'delete everything but steam.exe and steamapps' thing, even straight up reinstalled the damn program after just backing up my steamapps folder. Still cannot connect. Getting very frustrated, but glad to know that it seems to not just be me.

All i will say that i had this problem and even with the method i used (-tcp) it ocurred time after timw but now it has been 2 months without problems so -tcp fixed it ofr me can't say it will help anyone.

hi guys, I have never experienced this issue before, for me this is the first time it's happening since I am using Steam, some 5 years + .I tried all the resolutions you guys come up with , and none worked for me, not even when I try to connect with my laptop with Ubuntu OS, I really wanted to download Liftoff the game. and in the end manage , here is how :

• Search for a free Proxy software. I end up here : http://en.softonic.com/s/top-10-proxy-software
  and used Hot Spot Shield . It is 1 day free, but I don't care , I just wanted to download Liftoff.
  
  
• Change your location to another one , I live in Poland, I tried first USA IP, couldn't connect, switched to Czech Republic, and I was able to connect and download my game .
  
  [*] Online gaming will not work very well I think, using Proxy solutions, increases your Ping dramatically.
  
  I have no idea why Steam does not let me connect with my local IP, a friend of mine, lives in the same city, connects to Steam Application no problem. I want to mention also, all this time , I was able to connect to the Steam.com website. no problem there.

Alright Everyone, I have had this issue and I am running Windows 10. What I did is Reinstall steam completely, without deleting the files. It Automatically replaced them, and I think this is the reason it fixed, since it "fixed" the broken file/files. I am only a couple minutes in, but so far it is working for me. Hope this helps! Best of luck finding out the issue if it doesn't!
