"Failed to load steam.dll"

whenever i try to start up steam, it updates and then a message pops up saying:

Steam-Fatal Error
failed to load steam.dll

please help me. thank you.

i have more than 1 file called steam.dll do i just delete all of them so that my steam will reboot?

I had this problem, I just fixed it by uninstalling steam, reinstalling, and when it asks you where I wanted to install steam I changed the path to C:\Steam. Hope this helps

Oh and by the way, BEFORE you uninstall Steam , MOVE your 'STEAMAPPS' folder before doing so, or you will LOSE every game you have installed. And have to redownload them.

i fixed the problem by restoring the file under ''package''.

Same problem here today, on a fresh install of steamcmd.

[----] !!! Fatal Error: Failed to load steam.dll

Tried to remove all the folders and relaunch, no success...

Tried to do it with the normal steam client closed, no success...
