Lower case Account name
Afternoon guys, ideally looking for a mod/someone who really knows their stuff, let me explain.

I tried to log onto steam today, and said I was unable to connect, fair enough it happens, so I click exit, then it says login/re-enter account details, bit weird, but do so anyway hoping it will log me in, it does, however notice that my Account name (not profile name, which I know is changeable) is in lowercase instead of uppercase. I'm a tad OCD and it seems to be grinding my gears more than it really should tbh. Is there any way to remedy this? I found a page linked by someone in a seperate thread regarding this subject, showing a so called fix, however I was wondering, if anyone can clarify what the fix can potentially do and if it's safe to do,
> here is link http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3006786
as i said if any mods can confirm is this is safe i'd be greatly appreciative. Just want to make sure it's ok to do, however if it's not i'll leave it. Please no "It's just a name only you can see" comments, just wanting to know if it's potentially fixable, as a few others have had this happen to them too, and if this fixes it, i'm sure that it may help others affected by this too.

Thank you.

Edit: for those who come across this, the link provided and it's shown method works, make sure to make a back up file just incase you have issues.
Hope this helps any who may need the help.

Well, why don't you just try it?

I've never cared how the account name is displayed, but it could very well work since any server-side stuff will probably be identifying you with your Steam-ID anyway, not with the account name. So if the login works, which might very well be the only situation where the account name is used, chances are that you're fine.

Only reason i didn't want to try is incase something somehow messed up my account, however i would make a backup file of said file just incase. Thanks for the reply anyway man.
OCD will be the death of me i swear!
will hold off on trying for a while longer until i get some solid proof it's safe to do.

I know account names can't be changed/altered, which is fine, and i know it's saved on the server anyway, just hate the look of my name in lower case, i mean it's ridiculous enough lol ;)

Can i just say this now to all those who have had this glitch? the above method shown in link works, do not deviate by trying to change name letters etc, just put back caps on letters that need it and save. No need to continue this thread then, solved!

Could you please tell me how to capitalize a letter in my Steam Account name please? I have a bit of OCDness myself and when creating my Account name, I was sure I have my first letter in capital but then Steam change it all to lowercase :(

The account name cannot be changed.

Where do you see that name?

In steam it shows the account name fully capitalized. But only if you look for it.
And you type it in with small letters. Thats "easier". Think about it.

But @CRYT3KNICAL420 claims he was able to capitalize a letter in his account name (ID)

What you see is my Profile name, I can change it, capitalize it however I want. But my account name (like ID, username) is in lowercase which I'm 100% sure that when creating this account, I made sure to capitalize the first letter of my account name but it all appears in lowercase after the account was created. It is shown when steam sending me email "Hello, ,,,," and .... name is in lowercase

Whether you did or not, it's can't be changed. Nobody can change or alter a login name, not even support. You are stuck with whatever it is.
You can type the name at login without shift.
What is the problem with that?
