DualShock 4 in Big Picture Mode (Mac)
I've paired my DS4 wirelessly with Mac (Mavericks) and it shows up in Bluetooth control panel as a Wireless Controller. It works fine with OpenEmu, for instance.

When I try to use it wirelessly in Steam's BPM, though, it's correctly detected (Settings -> Controller shows DS4) but the menus do not react to any button presses. As soon as I plug it in via USB, it navigates the menus fine and plays controller-enabled games like Rogue Legacy wonderfully.

I'm wondering how other people have gotten the DS4 to work wirelessly in Steam, as mentioned at MacTrast:

"Overall, current compatibility is far better over USB at the moment. Steam’s Big Picture mode support both USB and Bluetooth modes flawlessly."

Gotta love those "PC & X360 controller is way to go" helpfull posts. Are those ads?

Anyway, @Andrius:
How did you do it? I can't seem to use anything at all. Only via USB.
Did you make any kind of update?

@Joaojotta: I am using the Steam Beta Client, other than that everything normal, Mac OS X 10.9.1, paired control with Bluetooth system preference panel, etc.

Yes, those post are totally helpful, open minded productive individuals I must say...

Thanks!
I'll try the BETA client and leave feedback as soon as possible.
...
Or I would as it seams the BETA is a closed version.

Meanwhile, I found a very usefull software where you can assign diferent keys to diferent buttons. Just moved myself arround BPM at ease.
Check out http://vividmachine.com/controllers/
5$ and you can personalize several layouts.

Very interested to see how this develops... can't wait for a full input wrapper for DS4/OSX.

haha...yeah.

I for one, have never liked the 360 controller for extended play. My left thumb gets sore. It is still loads better than the XB1 controller.

Another option for Mac OS is Joystick Mapper, available in the App Store, by Chibata Creations. I wish Steam Big Picture would incorporate this service directly into Steam, or at least predefined maps for the two most popular controllers in the world: the Xbox and PlayStation DualShock controllers. Seems like a no-brainer…

Since Xbox wireless controllers now cause kernel panic attacks (device driver needs to be rewritten) I decide to try a PS4 controller (wireless). Nothing but problems, support in Steam is very lacking.

Does anyone have any recommendations for wireless controllers that work Apple™ computers and Steam™ Big Picture™ Thanks for any suggestions.

Right now I’m thinking a wired Xbox controller is my best bet.

Well wireless Xbox controllers are now again supported so I'm going that route.
