I can't find my screenshots!
I'm in game and I hit the insert button (ins) / print screen (prt sc) which is to the right of f12, the button Steam suggests for capturing screenshots. I see in the upper right hand corner of my screen something that reads along the lines of "Screenshot23.bmp created" so I figure I they have to be going somewhere. A search of my computer yields nothing and the steam screenshot page is acting like I've never taken one. Any ideas?

Then yes that is odd.
Do you have INS set as your Steam screenshot button (in the client - steam>settings>In-game)?
Because F12 is default and I dont think prtscn can be used..

Or have you set up a custom screenshot folder? (also in steam>settings>In-game)

So I went into this and noticed there was no folder selected for screenshots to be saved in! Thank you so much!

So my next issue - under "Screenshot shortcut keys:" I try to select it and assign a button ( I figure clicking on the box then hitting the number would work) but it's not allowing me to assign a key. Any ideas?

If you can't find it that way, try clicking "View Screenshot Library" in your Steam library, then "Show on disk" to bring up the folder.

This obviously doesn't work because Steam doesn't recognize (as previously stated multiple times) that I've taken a screenshot. Read my OP.

Mine all seem to be in .jpg format. Not sure if you tried running a full search for *.jpg instead of *.bmp?

I had this same problem - I know this is quite an old thread and you have probably fixed it for yourself by now but I thought I'd share how I dealt with it: I created a screenshot folder as someone described above and found it in my computer so I knew where it was, then I tried to change the key to take screenshots as someone said how to do above as well (steam>>settings>>in game>>screenshot shortcut keys) I tried to make it so my print screen key was the hotkey, but that didn't work (I still don't know why...) so then I decided to make my backspace the hotkey and that worked. I also ticked the "save an uncompressed copy" key which is just below there. Now when I take a screenshot it comes up with a notification in the bottom right corner and when I go to my computer folder, my screenshots are there.
...
In summary, create a folder for your screenshots (steam>>in game>>screenshot folder) then tick the box "save an uncompressed copy" below this and make a different button the screenshot shortcut by clicking the box below screenshot shortcut keys and pressing the button on your keyboard you want to assign (but for some reason this can't be the print screen button)
I hope this helps someone!

If using prtsc the pictures will be in your Skyrim directory just scroll down.
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
