Deals removed?

Hi there! Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this.

I always thought Steam left the general deals available on all 2000 items up until the last day of the sale (which is tomorrow Jan 3). It seems that if the game isn't on daily deals today, then it's not on sale. This has not been the case in the past, what's going on?

It showed up on the game's store page too, right next to the price. Deal ends on the Dec. 2nd.

I appreciate the fact you wish to point that out after the fact. However, you're not pointing to anything in the advertisement of the sale that says it would be cut short. This is what I am looking for and the fact you are saying "just deal with it" isn't the position you should be taking in my opinion. I believe you should be questioning why information was provided to the public and that you had to have other knowledge for the sale in another form with no direct documentation. The information provided is misleading at best and false at worst. I ask that you bring this up to those who can make a decision in regards to this instead of fronting that there is only one way for this to go, and that is for me to just live with it when I know there is another option.

Well put. And like others have said, I was with family in another part of the country with no access to a computer so i was solely relying on my Steam App and my wishlist page.

What you're saying would make sense if we weren't capable of understanding concepts such as "context", or "communication", or "public relations"-- all of which were not handled well by Valve when they advertised these sales and then stripped many of them away before the appointed date, especially given the fact that this is not how they *normally* handle their huge sales.

I know you want to take Valve's side because it seems to you like a bunch of people are whining about something that you think they SHOULD have had a better grasp on, but Valve *IS* at fault for a lack of good communication. Customers are upset, and they're upset about something that could have easily been avoided with better communication from Valve. There's no good reason that they *shouldn't* have handled it better.

Maybe, but I don't know why they'd care, as long as people are buying. Now there's a bunch of us who aren't buying anything at all because nothing on our Wishlist is on sale anymore. I think they really shot themselves in the foot here.

Never in the past has the sale ended like this, and the timers had actually been counting down to tomorrow.

Also, the banner still claims 2000 games on sale. If you're truly dense to think that that will just end, then there is no hope for you.

its a lot of money to lose out on for devs and steam.

the "smart" shopper waits for the game to show up on flash or daily. If it doesn't you snag on last day/last 24 hours = 2nd-3rd"

- there aren't timers on the Wishlist page which is the page designed to keep track of games you want to buy.

Really well put. This is the problem right here. I mean, boo hoo, I can't spend the $5 I was waiting until today to spend. But if everything other than the big stuff was going to end early, that should have been more clearly communicated.

Does anyone happen to have a screen shot or something for a non-daily sale? Now that I'm thinking about it some more, they may have actually said Jan 2 and not Jan 3. Which would somewhat defeat the point of having the sale go to the third, but I'd be much more satisfied with the answer being a lack of attention on my part than Valve just screwing around.

ROFLOL! The news page said the sale was until the 2nd at 10:00 am. You guys all hoped and gambled that it would go until the 3rd and now your sad about it? Steam does this for every major sale(summer and x-mas sale) all other sales don't have encore sales. The encore sale ALWAYS is just for the top selling games. Face it, you guys gambled on the chance of "maybe" getting a game on encore from your wishlists......but LOST! I knew this was going to happen because Steam just doesn't make it "clear" enough for most and should retool their wording for sales a bit better or just come out and say SALE is from x-y and z sale is just for encore games on Z date ONLY. Which is how it always is, but noobs don't get it.....and yes I was a noob to steam sales once and I believe I raged to myself about it as well.....but I lived and learned, which is what most need to take away from this experience. If best buy runs a sale, but runs out of stock before the sale ends.....do you RAGE to them as well while running around the store stomping your feet? "I'm not gonna leave your store till you fix me!" lol at mental image that produced.

Um, yes. It does mean they will be on sale every second until the advertised date. That's the whole point of putting a date.

"Yeah we'll tell them it ends Jan 3rd, but actually, we're gonna get rid of 90% of the sales before hand."

I completely agree. I was thinking of making a few more purchases, now I won't. I'll buy them in the next sale, so all they've got is delayed income, not enhanced.

Sorry, but when it says "Jan 3rd," that's hardly anyone hoping and gambling. It says and confirms it right there, lol. Please calm down.
