Rust LAg or game not optimized

I've been playing rust for the first time but my problem is it lag so bad no matter what settings it on. I don't know if it's my pc or the game poorly optimized, but my specs go over the requirments.
My Specs
Ati Readon 3400 series 3gb
Intel Core 2 Quad Cpu Q9400 @2.66Ghz
8gb ram

Thats your problem, the Ati radeon is a low end graphics card. Your GPU needs some upgrading.

But at what cost, low frame rates, bad graphics. I judge a graphics card by if it can run a modern game on medium to high settings at 1920x1080 running 60fps with v-sync. If it cant achieve this, then its time to upgrade.

Rust is a early access game, its still in alpha at this point. So yes its is prolly not very well optimized and you can expect bugs, lag, etc. You shouldn't buy early access if you are looking for a polished and complete game, early access is so users can help shape how the game developes over time.
