Question about the "No-Bump" rule...
You know in the General Rules when it tells you not to "Bump Threads"? I just need to clarify the precise meaning.

I know it means something like "Bringing topics back to the top of the page", but I'm not sure whether it means just writing "Bump" and nothing else. Is it still disallowed even when adding something to the discussion in question?

It's just that I'm sad that my should-have-more-attention topic isn't getting as much attention as I'd hoped. I'd like to draw more attention to it, but would it be against the "Do-not-bump" rule?

As in...Is it too late to add anything to it?

Bumping in general is replying for the sole purpose of raising the topic back to the top of the list. Doesn't really matter what you write as the reply.

You can edit a post if you want to add more info to it.

So, hypothetically speaking, writing in a topic as a seperate reply (But still adding something to the discussion) would be something to do with Bumping?

As in,

Writing "Bump" is against the rules, but writing
There could also be <Fill this part in with a few sentences relevant to the topic>. Anything else?

I just don't want my topic to be completely dead. Only having 4 comments (Including my own) makes it the lonliest post I've made...

I don't know at which point the moderators would consider it a bump even if you were adding to the discussion, especially if no one else was adding to the topic.

If your post is the last one made in a thread (like it is in the one you linked), then making a new post, no matter what you have to add, is bumping and maybe even spamming. However, as long as you're not constantly doing it, I doubt you would get into trouble.

If someone has posted after you, and you have something relevant to add, it's fine to write a new post.

So, you're saying that "A single post like that wouldn't do much damage"? I don't think I made a Bump-like reply before.

If that's not allowed, is there another way to bring some attention to the linked topic...Without accidentally violating the guidelines?

From what I know, if it's actually something useful, feel free to add it - if it's not been said before in the said topic.

The rule is basically:
Don't post with the sole purpose of pushing the thread to the top of the list (even if you hide that under extra info).
Don't post multiple times in a row.

If you're adding more to the thread after someone else has responded, that's fine. But if you're wanting to add more and you're the most recent post it's generally best to just edit your latest post.

*sigh* That probably means that the linked discussion can't be revitalised the way I'm imagining, doesn't it?

So, if someone other than myself posts in the old discussion with info that's relevant to the topic, it's OK, but a user "Double-posting"...isn't...OK?

That's how I understood it.
