Minimum Steam files and game files needed for computer transfer?
Here is the deal.....

now: intel cpu/LGA755 socket/32bit Vista
soon: amd cpu/AM3+ socket/64bit 7

I've read that those three things factor into what to backup but, no specifics as to which files/folders exactly. I am not using Steams backup system due to lack of space and that i've got enough gbs to upload to Mediafire or where ever as is while I wait for my new system to arrive. TF2 is the only game I've downloaded from Steam so I just need directions for that. I'm not going to keep any downloaded maps or mods and such like vs Saxton Hale. I'll just re-download those down the road. Same for my video card that will be the same so I don't need any directions for that either.

I won't need any of the files just sitting in the open in the Steam folder correct? Just whats in userdata and steamapps? In my user data folder there are two numbered folders. Both lead to mostly vdf files and my sreenshots. Just backup my pics or rar archive the whole folder? Would my firends list and Steam stats and such be in any of the vcfs? I'd like to keep all of that or is that automatically done whenever I do login on my new computer? In my steamapps folder the downloading, sourcemods and temp folders are empty fyi. Then there is the AMD driver file plus two appmanifest acf files plus a sourceinit and winui gcf files. Will I need any of the acf or gcf files? My username folder only leads to a support.dll thats dated 2011 so i'm guessing no on that one? As for whats in common/ TeamFortress 2 i am lost on what to keep there.

Sorry for all the questions I just really want to do this right. In short I want to keep all of my Steam and TF2 info, stats and such that I would need to keep in this situation.

I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

If you're cool with redownloading, backup nothing. Just install Steam on the new rig, download TF2 and its all there. Otherwise, backup or copy the Team Fortress 2 folder from SteamApps/Common.

Steamapps is all your game data. (.exe etc)
userdata is settings, screenshots, some save data.

You will need to make sure you have your game saves backed up as not all are in the steam folder.

Try gamesave-manager to back up your saves.

So, everything will still be there when I download Steam and TF2 on the new computer? Including my inventory, loadouts, stats and achievements aswell for both?

Yes. Your games are bound to your Steam account so as long as you use the same account, your stuff will be there.
As for in-game stuff, that depends. TF2 is a multiplayer game where everything is stored on Valve's servers so your stuff will be there when you log in using the same account. So if it's only about TF2, you don't have to backup anything.
