How do I turn off my screen without messing up my download?
I hope this is the right place to post this. My computer is a Toshiba laptop that is running the current version of Windows 8. I bought a Skyrim download through Amazon, and it's downloading through Steam right now. The problem is, it is going to take a very long time for it to download (fluctuates between 6 to 19 hours). I will not be able to stay up that long, but I don't want to stop my download (would really like to play it once I wake up). I want to turn off my screen without my download being interrupted, and I tried dimming it all the way off but the screen won't go completely off. Would putting my computer to sleep cause the download to stop? Is there any other way on my computer to get the screen to go off but leave everything else on?

These instructions are for Windows 7, should be similar for Windows 8. Go to the control panel, then select Power Options. On the left side you should see links to change when the computer goes to sleep (set to never) and when the display is turned off (set to whatever you want).

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
