Steam Store Broken, can't access Store pages or Gift Inventory

FOr the last 4-5 hours Steam has been down. Just when Skyrim, Terraria, King of Fighters 13 (which I was gonna gift to friends) and so many half decent games today and I cannot buy a single one because STEAM IS DOWN. 103, 138, 503 errors (my friend got the 138, I didn't notice if I did but I got the other two).

If you are having this issue please post below and lets see if we can't get Valve to extend the holiday sale by one day (or extend the games on sale today on flash by an extra 8 hours on their store pages for those that are forced to miss out) because this is so not good. I've been unable to gift or do my raffle today because of these outages.

I'm in the US EST so not sure if anyone overseas is having the same issues.

Any word on the status of any fixes?

No idea on status fixes, but I'm getting the same problem. Error 118 though. Thought it was my internet connection again, but nope. Just Steam being Steam again.... *le sigh*

Not always, I was looking at a sales aggregator and links to steampowered.com get no response.
Stores are closed, people must just want to buy something.

*sigh* I feel your pain. I'm in UK and have had terrible time trying to connect to Steam since I started around midday. There are games I am trying to buy for people, and I just keep getting errors. I missed out on the sales I wanted last year, so I certainly don't want a repeat of that.

guys if u have noticed steam has made left for dead 2 free so some people think the reason its broken is because so many people are dowloading but im really just pissed of i wanna go to the store but no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ errors

I've been trying for hours. Going on 5 for me. Died about 10-15 minutes into the latest reset that showcased the new games.

Seriously, Valve... if you were gonna make L4D2 FREE for today, couldn't you have just ATTACHED it automatically to people's library if they were logged in or log in before the special gift ends? THIS WOULD OF AVOIDED HUGE HEADACHES.

Now everyone is trying to install this game to get it to register to their accounts. Horrible approach with good intentions is still horrible, now I got these gifts for friends and I can't even access my inventory.

SHUTOFF DOWNLOADS AND GIVE PEOPLE A COPY WITH A LIMITED 24 EXPIRATION DATE to add it to their library. Not hard to do.

I'd love to know what possessed Valve to give away L4D2, an insanely popular game away for free on today of all days. It's the Winter Sale and it's Christmas which is obviously going to be the busiest day of the year and give them enough problems as is. Why on earth would you give away such a popular game away on today of all days and not only that, only give it away today?

Valve basically decided to deliberately kill their own servers and make sure nobody could use the community features, buy or even gift games they'd bought for friends. They should have automatically added it to accounts of those who logged in today or given away the game on another day.

It's a heck of a nice gesture but it was an incredibly dumb move that had obvious consequences. I'm a little annoyed as I had gifts for friends that I wanted to give to people today because it's Christmas. There's also a couple of last minute games I wanted to buy as gifts as well. I'm having to give up that now because the issues are so persistent.

My original plan was to purchase Dungeon Defender's which is a flash sale that ends in 2 hours. Of course that did not go through, I got an error loading page etc. Then noticed the Lfd2 for free and tried downloading THAT and of course the same issue. Needless to say I hope Steam extends the time on these sales. Doesn't seem very fair to put them on sale but not allow anyone to download them.

Same errors. Very frustrating. I just Joined steam today and these kind of things are happening. I've heard great things about steam but this is terrible.
