im getting tired of this HELP ME. I paid for these damn products.. I want to use them.
Started yesterday I tried logging into steam and it said "steam is connecting to your account". Then it would say 15 seconds later it failed to and its either my connection(its not) or somethings wrong.

Of course yesterday nobody on here whined about having this problem. So I deleted all the files in my steam folder but steam exe and Steam apps.

Once steam was up again, it allowed me on steam but now says "This app is already running" when I double click ANY of my games which are NOT running and have been on my PC for months.

I then deleted all my steam stuff again and replaced the original stuff I had deleted.. back to the "cant log into steam" issue.

What the F is wrong? I pay good money for these games, I have always hated steam because it means I cant sell games if I dislike them or grow bored with them, but now you are keeping me from product I have PAID for..

Whats the problem and whats the fix? I WILL NOT, repeat WILL NOT uninstall all my games and redo the graphics and key bindings in them, im simply to lazy and did not pay $50 a game to go through the hassle. So anything short of a full uninstall im ok with.

Thank you

Hey have you tried steam support? - https://support.steampowered.com/

There's a lot of helpful guides and information in there that could help you find your problem.
GameOverMan 25. dec. 2013 kl. 16:04
No there is no helpful info. Steam support Q and A is basically the same crap the cable company does when you calls them.
Its common sense idiot answers to keep the majority of people from having to deal with a real person via tech support. It saves them a lot of time and money.

Try going into Task Manager, Processes, and see if they're running there. It's helped occasionally with me.

Other than that, like Sim said, steam support might help too.

i dont know

Getting angry about it isn't going to fix anything, Skorzeny. Considering how many problems Steam is having since it's Christmas, you can't possibly be the only one dealing with this issue- so don't act like you are.

Thank you sim but I have to sign up for a new support account, send them a message, wait a day for a response, response will likely be asking me questions rather than giving me an answer, 3 days later I may finally be back on.

I have played the support game before and im to impatient for it. I want an answer now, not in 2 days.

I appreciate you trying to help but im looking to find out if others are having this issue, if so it means steam will fix it. if not then im screwed.

I cant get into task manager since steam wont even open. It just says "failed to log in".

Nobody else has complained about this issue I can see. Most are complaining they cant download new games or its laggy.

Also, you deleted every file in your Steam folder because Steam was down. If anything goes wrong and messes up, that's your fault. Deleted files = broken client-side Steam. Fixed files = Steam is down, the servers are down and that's no fault of yours.

Get back to here and try this:

Steam Support > How to remove and refresh your Steam files [/quote]

Refreshing your Steam files can resolve many issues that can be encountered in the Steam application, store, or games. Performing this operation will ensure that there are no issues that could be resolved with a new installation of Steam, and is a good place to start any troubleshooting process.

Just tried it.. Did not work.

Still saying app is already running in background, which its not, I restarted my computer just to be doubly sure. Nothing on task manager either.

Here's my theory:

Before you deleted the files, you couldn't play because Steam was overloaded by all the millions of people trying to play/buy games on Christmas.

After deleting the files, Steam was broken because you deleted lots of essential files, breaking the functions used to actually launch the games and see whether or not they're running.

Restore the files, and you're back to the first problem.

None of this is your fault. Just have some patience and wait for Steam to recuperate.
