Launching The Stanley Parable (Mac)

I downloaded the recently released mac version of the stanley parable and tried to launch it. Every time I either open the shortcut application or try to launch it from steam a grey file opens for 5ish seconds and then closes. Since steam's support is somewhere between abysmal and nonexistant I've come to ask what's going wrong and how can I get the game to launch normally. This is all happening on a standard macbook pro with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and 4 GB of memory.

What version of Mac do you have? I've been having the same problem, and my Mac is an OSX 10.6.8, and I'm beginning to think that's the issue.
