Steam installing Microsoft VC Redist Package on every start up.
Basically it's more of something that's been annoying me for the past year or so than anything preventing me from playing the game, but every time I launch a game Steam tries to install the VC Redist Package. Of course, since it's already installed it just stops, and then the game pops up. I was wondering how to fix this. I've seen a few fixes involving regedit, but I'm wary to touch those since they deal with DirectX having this issue and not the VC Redist Package. I've tried deleting the .vdf files in the games folders, but they just reappear whenever I start the game. So, what is causing this issue, and how do I fix it?

No chance to do it without RegEdit. If it annoys you so much you will have to bite the bullet. It happens when a prerequisite cannot be installed because it is already installed in a newer version. There is quite a good thread that should cover it all (delete the space after http://):

Awesome, thanks. My issue with regedit wasn't with using it, but rather with the fact that the fix I found with regedit was an issue with directX, not VC Redist.

~Edit: Using the Regedit fix worked, all is well. Now I just have to do it for every game, but whatever.

Good to hear that it worked - it shouldn't happen too often afterall.
