Publisher pushes game update to steam
Your client picks up an update is needed
Your client copies the files that need to be patches to another folder (temp), if the file being patched is 3Gb, even if the patch for it is 10Mb, it needs space to copy that 3Gb.
The files are then patched in the temp folder
The files are then copied BACK into the main game folder.
So, you need space for it to copy the files that are being updated to another location.
Is there any way to do this patching staged (not patching everything at once but download all patches and patch files one after another to save space)?
By staging the updated files this isn't an issue
